Kids Games: How To Play Hide and Seek

Hide and seek can be played either indoors or outdoors. It is one of the fantastic kids’ games that can be great to play with adults and children or with simply children on their own. If you have a lot of participants in hide and seek, you may choose to play the game outside, so you have more room to move around.

Kids Games: The Rules of Hide and Seek

Any number of participants can play hide and seek. All the players except one hide. The person who does not hide is considered “it.” This player stands at a home base, turns around and closes his eyes. The player counts loudly out loud to 20 or another number agreed upon by the players. This player then opens his eyes and begins to search for other players.

Kids Games: Finishing Hide and Seek

When the player reaches 20 in his counting, he opens his eyes and looks for the other players. If he finds a player, he has to chase him and try to tag him. The player he’s chasing has to run back to home base before the person who’s “it” catches him and tags him. If the player being chased is caught, he is now “it,” the game ends, and everyone who’s hiding must come out.

A new game can then begin with the new player being “it.” If the player being chased is not caught, however, and makes it safely back to home base, the first player continues to be “it” and must find another player and tag him. This process continues until the player who is “it” finds and tags one of the other players. If he never finds and tags one of the other players, he then returns to home base and must again close his eyes and count to 20 while a new game begins. He doesn’t stop being “it” until another player is caught and tagged.
