When you download the game of hangman and load it on your computer, you’ll see a board game on your screen. This board posts blank lines on one side of the screen representing each letter in the word you have to figure out. On the other side of your computer screen is a diagram representing a gallows and a noose.

The game begins when the first player guesses a letter that might be in the hidden word. That player types that key on the computer keyboard. If the letter is in the word, it will appear in the appropriate blank line in the hidden word. If the letter is not in the word, a hangman will begin to form on the gallows and noose by adding a circle to the noose to represent a head.

The turn of the first player continues until he chooses a letter in the word that does not appear in the hidden word. When he chooses a letter that is not in the hidden word, his turn ends and the next player takes a turn. The opponent continues to guess letters until he can guess the entire word. For every wrong answer, a body part is added to the hangman.

The game continues until either the word is correctly guessed or if the body of the hangman is completed before the opponent guesses the word. If a player guesses the word before the body is formed, that player wins the game! Then, a new game can begin.
